Here’s some thoughts of what rwby characters would wield which Symphogear. Planning to draw them or something.

Rwby - Igalima. Scythe + outwardly happy and optimistic but hiding some pretty massive struggles.

Weiss - Ama No Habakiri. Sword + pretty much the same character as Tsubasa at times

Blake - Airgetlám. Also a sword but more specifically a whip sword and daggers. This is the only one where I think color would be important for the gear but Blake would look great in Silver. Also the whole used to be part of a villainous organization thing Maria and Blake have going on

Penny - Shénshòujìng. Floating and laser beams. Best friend and totally girlfriend of the main character. Not technically part of the main team but definitely is. Keeps getting mind controlled and/or fridged.

Pyrrha- Gungnir, more so Kanade’s version. Spear. Dead wife Haunting the narrative.

Now’s where it gets a little more difficult. Either Yang or Nora could easily take Igalima but neither really fits Shul Shagana.

Also if we want to go this route either could inherit Gungir, but I think it would be most interesting if Cinder took it from her. Or I could trans Jaune… there were two gungnirs so I could do both…

What I’ve decided on is this

Yang gets Igalima. She has been getting more guns and bombs as the series goes on so this is the natural progression. Plus the whole sad but also having fun fighting monsters thing.

That leaves Nora with Shul Shagana. She can’t really do the twin tail buzzsaw thing so I’ll have to change her hammer into a saw hammer. It would match Igalima better and those are supposed to be twin blades. Sugar Rush nation stays winning?

Ren and Oscar and Jaune(maybe) in the support staff because they can’t touch Noise without disintegrating (rip Pyrrha)

Ruby:

She met you when she passed the fountain at beacon, you were just hiding there as some bullies (Cardin and his lackeys) that were picking on you and fled to the fountain as fast as you could.

She had shown her friends and sister you, they all loved you as you were still a child and would need guidance so they all took care of you but ruby is the one who took the title of ‘mom’ to you.

You helped ruby confess to Weiss and so both become your mothers while you helped yang and Blake get together, they all called you the little matchmaker as you helped them get in a relationship with the one they love.

They all begged glynda and professor ozpin to keep you, glynda was against it but ozpin thought it would teach them responsibility and on how to take care of any children who’re in danger or lost from their parents.

Ruby would sneak you and her some cookies when you two weren’t supposed top have any yet which brought you two to a sugar rush that wiess had to deal with until it wears off.

You and ruby are spoiled by Weiss when she uses the card that was given to her from her father which all of team rwby and you hate. Tai adores you and thinks of you as his granddaughter even though he thinks that ruby is a bit young to take care of a child at the age she is plus with how she and her teammates, your mother and aunts, are huntresses as well.

You were a bit afraid of zwei but soon learns that he wouldn’t hurt you as he protected you from Cardin until your mothers and aunts came to teach him a leases on. You also met team jnpr who all thought you were adorable.

Weiss:

Weiss had found you knew her family estate before she went to beacon and had taken you with her without anyone but her family butler; Klein, know about you which he found was sweet of her and made sure to keep this secrecy of hers from her father as he is the big issue here more so than her mother and siblings.

Ozpin had let you stay with her as long as she and her team that was deformed after coming to beacon can look after you and take responsibilities for you.

Ruby loved you and thought you were the most adorable child she had ever seen, yang as well as her sister also loves you the same and had soon become the self-proclaimed aunt for you, Blake was worried for you considering weiss family neglecting faunas alike with force labor but soon seen that weiss takes good care of you and also became your aunt soon after.

You helped the group get together; ruby and weiss, yang and blake, which made you the matchmaker of the small little family.

Jnpr soon mat you after jaune saw you with weiss, he didn’t know that ruby and weiss was together as the two wanted to get used to the new relationship plus weiss father would have a fit and she doesn’t want that to stress her and you and with the fact her father still doesn’t know about you yet, jaune started trying to flirt with Wei’s before you spoke before she could and said she was already in a relationship with ruby which shocked and sadden him but he understood and left.

When winter met your it was when she came to visit weiss along with because of the festival happening at beacon for future hunters and hutresses. She was shocked that weiss would have a child with her but was soon explained the whole story and understood quickly and became a aunt figure to you as well.

Weeiss had bought a wheelchair for you which alerted her father but she gave an excuse that a friend of hers needed it and it doesn’t cost that much (it does but not for her family) and so he rwhole family know of this wheelchair friend of their daughter/sister, minus Klein and winter and was now wondering who you were. If Cardin ever picked on you, he now wished he hadn’t as he was soon in a nightmare of a time that he would never forget even if he wanted to.

Yang:

Yang had found you while she was out on here motorcycle, you were getting bullied by some thugs sand she took care of them for you and decided to show you to her friends and sister.

Ruby self-proclaimed herself as the aunt and made her girlfriend the aunt as well. Blake, yang’s girlfriend became your second mother which was a bit nerve reason as you thought she might think of you as lunch like a regular cat would with regular fish but that soon changed fast as she and yang protected you from Cardin who was bullying you and the other Faunus which made the two mothers angry and taught him a lesson.

Blake helped educate you on Faunus history while yang taught you how to be street smart, weiss teaches you on the economy and human history while ruby how to use the puppy dog eyes with zwei.

Ozpin had let yang take you in as you two already grown attached to each other and cause you had no known parents or relatives to take you in and cause it might help with Yang personality and teach her and the rest of team rwby about responsibility along with how to take care of the lost children that might come up on their missions as soon to be huntresses.

Tai and Blake’s parents all love you, you soon became their granddaughter and brought the two families together which helps everyone out as weiss made sure to secretly help the Faunus out with the knowledge that Blake’s family and herself has plus the help of her team now every Faunus with get a brighter future with the help of all of team rwby.

Jnpr met you soon after you officially became the child of yang and blake when they got together and now they’re help of babysitting, though mostly Pyrrha and ren was the one that helped took care of you while jaune and Nora played games with you and of course Pyrrha and ren joined as you had insisted all of you to play.

Yang will protect you from anyone that poses a threat to you and her friends, and sister as long as you stick beside her.

Blake:

Blake’s family was a close friends of your family, so when all but you passed because of some humans that still hated the Faunus killed them while you were visiting the belladonna family, it was only right for them to take you in, though blake said that she would like to adopt you as her daughter which was fine with her parents as they know that she is responsible enough to keep you safe.

She took you with her to beacon as she had gotten the permission from ozpin that she can as long as you stay at the dorms and she along with her team make sure to take care of you.

You helped with any problems she had and helped the team get along and all of you look out for each other and make sure you’re safe from Cardin and anybody that thought that it was a good idea to bully you.

Blake tries to not eat fish around you as that might freak you and make you scared of her but when someone does it on purpose then she will raise hell on that person and anybody who joined in.

You had helped yang and blake get together as well as ruby and weiss which gave you the title as you had somehow got other people together though blake make sure that you don’t overwhelm yourself.

Tai also loved you and made sure to teach you some things he would think you need to know while qrow somewhat stayed at a distance with you but still came in with some life advise just in case you might need it in the future same with tai but it was mostly qrow’s advise that sticker with you.

Jnpr were the go to babysitter for you if they aren’t on a mission for when rwby is about to go on a mission, if team jnpr are on a mission the uncle sun and neptune which was always fun but ends in a scolding for them and a quick check up for you.

Just thinking about how some Bumbleby fans insist their ship is superior to ships like Freezerburn and shouldn't be criticized because their ship is canon, and how they'll be like "Bumbleby is canon, Freezerburn never would've happened and you're delusional for thinking it."

A. It's a little like the "people say Rwby is a bad show, but it's actually popular" thing, where it's like, whether or not the ship is canon has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the ship is good or well written or non-toxic or any of that.

B. I really do think that one reason why people think "mine is canon and yours isn't" is a convincing argument, or like a hurtful thing to say to people who ship a rival ship like Freezerburn or Blacksun is because of the anti-criticism push in the fandom and the villainization of rwde. Saying you want a different ship to be canon is skating really close to saying you think the writers shouldn't have done the thing that they did, after all. And meanwhile, the anti-criticism push in the fandom has resulted in this thing where 'it's canon' is meant to be kind of a last word on things, or 'it's what the writers wanted' or 'here's what the writers want us to think' is used like they're meant to be argument ending and undebatable. Because the fandom at large's anti-rwde expectations means that the writers are always supposed to be right and that the fans are just supposed to accept and like everything that the writers do or say with a smile. Like, the most you're allowed to say without getting labeled 'rwde' and therefore an evil, bad faith horrible person is 'that change wasn't what I personally would've wanted, but it's still great.' People get harassed and sent hate for saying that the writers make mistakes or shouldn't have done something they did. So of course some bees fans think that saying "well Bumbleby is canon and the writers never would've gone with Freezerburn" is going to make people feel badly or is going to make them rethink their own shipping preferences. Of course some bees fans feel better about their ship themselves simply because they can say it's what the writers wanted, so when they see a post about how a different ship had better development they can reassure themselves by sending the person messages telling them "that ship isn't canon and my ship is canon, hahaha."

C. The way the writers talk very much so implies that they're easily swayed by fandom opinion. For example, recently they were talking about Neo and how they essentially killed her off in the end and how they viewed her as irredeemable, but one reason they gave her a more sympathetic end and had her 'bow out' was because a lot of people liked her character a lot. And that isn't a one off occurrence. The writers often talk about how the audience reacts to things and how they've tried to work through audience complaints (badly, but that's a complaint for another post.) So, I'm supposed to believe that bumbleby becoming canon had absolutely nothing at all to do with it being the most popular ship in rwby (and again, popularity doesn't equal quality) and that if Freezerburn hadn't been more popular, they wouldn't have gone with it? I don't believe that. 'Planned from the beginning' or not, the writers carry things out or change things based on the fandom already, so idk why I should exalt bumbleby as the superior ship just because they're canon. Arkos is canon too, that doesn't mean I have to like Arkos or like it more than shipping Jaune with Ren and Nora or shipping Jaune with Neptune. Renora is canon too, that doesn't mean it's inherently superior to Sugar Rush and that there's nothing to complain about in how the writers wrote Ren and Nora's relationship. XD

I ship Han with Leia in Star Wars, I've liked them since I was a kid. Imagine if I went up to perfect strangers who shipped Han with Luke and was talking to people about wishing they'd gone with Han and Luke, and I was like "haha, the ship that I like is canon and yours isn't! Luke and Han was never gonna happen, you delusional idiot!" That'd be not only asshole behavior, but it'd also be totally irrelevant to the conversation and completely meaningless to the person who clearly already knows what ship is canon.

So yeah, tl;dr version of this is: Ships that are canon aren't inherently superior to ships that aren't canon. The writers are swayed by the fandom anyway, so it could've just as easily been freezerburn if it was more popular and popular doesn't mean good. The anti-rwde, anti-criticism stuff in the fandom is one big reason why these shipping wars even continue and why some bees fans feel so superior about their ship. And it's entirely irrelevant to discussions of quality to brag about a ship's canon status.

Nora: He was standing all alone, a hoard of horrifying demons came charging at our precious knight, Jaune! He screamed for help, where there was none!

Nora: When suddenly, I came down, flying upon my anime body pillow! I started blasting magical spells! Destroying those vile monsters one after another in kaleidoscope of rainbow coloured clouds!

Nora: Then, Jaune reached out his hand towards me, and I came flying down! We grasped out hands together, and we flew off away on my flying anime body pillow!

Nora: Where we flew off into the sky, gyrating our hips to the smooth beats of, "Gimme Gimme Gimme,' by ABBA.

Nora: So, that's what me, and Jaune-Jaune did this weekend. What about you, you guys do anything interesting?

Yang: Whoa...

Pyrrha: Wha...?

Ruby: ABBA? Who's that?

Ren: ...?

Weiss: The hell...?

had a strange idea and thought you might have fun writing it. ruby and nora both love jaune, and so they both date him. jaune doesn't get why until their first kiss THEY WERE JUST SHARING HIM BECAUSE HE WAS TOO TALL TO KISS WITHOUT STANDING ON EACHOTHER'S SHOULDERS!

Jaune awoke from his slide down memory lane as Ruby pulled her lips away from his. Her lips tasted like the strawberry milkshake she had earlier. He blinked and looked down to see his girlfriend standing on their girlfriend's shoulders. She blew him a kiss as he stared.

"Okay, my turn!" Nora lifted Ruby by her ankles, then dropped her as she flailed. Ruby landed hard on her butt, but Nora simply bent forward with her hands on her hips. "Hurry up!" she whined, not at all caring that her girlfriend was hurt.

"Nora," Jaune chided, "it's not just you in this relationship. Ruby's in this with us, too." He extended his hand to the red-caped girl.

She grasped his hand. "Thank you," she murmured as he pulled her to her feet.

"Okay, now it's my turn!" Nora grabbed Ruby by her shoulders, putting force to push her down.

Ruby resisted, but Nora was abnormally strong for her size. Ruby's knees buckled, and she cried out as she landed hard on her knees. "Ow! Stop it!"

Before Nora could lift her leg, Jaune put a hand on her shoulder. The look in his eyes told her to stop. "Nora, get on your knees." She blinked owlishly. "Like this." Jaune then crouched to his knees. He gestured with his hand to join her, and she shrugged before kneeling. "Now, kiss Ruby." Again, she blinked, except this time, she was blushing.

"What?! I can't do that! I'd be cheating on you!"

"No, you wouldn't. You're Ruby's girlfriend, too, and you're not treating her right."

Nora grit her teeth. "This wasn't part of the deal, Ruby!" Nora growled.

"Well, he's right, though." Ruby blushed and looked at the ground. "You have been pretty pushy since we started. But, I don't know if I can kiss you, either. I haven't kissed a girl before."

"Neither have I, but that doesn't mean want to try now."

"Fine," Jaune said, "then we should break up."

"What?!" Ruby and Nora shrieked in unison.

"My mother always taught me that relationship can't last without love." Jaune stated. 'She also warned me about women half my height.' He thought.

Ruby and Nora shifted and squirmed in place, their faces growing more and more red as seconds became minutes.

Jaune sighed. "Okay, how about this; I kiss each of you, and then we'll go from there. Okay?"

"You got it!" Nora said with a thumbs up.

"That sounds fair." Ruby replied with newfound confidence.

"Okay, close your eyes. I won't kiss you until you do."

Nora immediately shut her eyes. "Got it!"

Ruby was more hesitant. "Okay!"

Nora felt Jaune place his hand on the back of her head. 'Ooh, taking charge, huh? Well, okay, mister leader man, I'm game!' Nora thought as she suddenly felt a pair of lips touch hers. She slapped his hand away and wrapped her arms around her lover, shoving her tongue as far into his mouth as she could. 'Mm, this must be that strawberry shake Ruby had earlier. Makes sense, since they're right from his lips.'

Ruby was next to feel Jaune's hand on her head. Ruby felt calm from her boyfriend taking charge. It kind of filled her with pride knowing that she helped him become a more confident leader. Ruby then felt his lips crash into her less than one second after contact, and even faster his tongue slamming against hers. He wrapped his muscular arms around her, almost making her lose her breath from the forceful approach he took. A small part of her liked this side of him. 'Mm, his lips taste like chocolate... Wait, that's not right. His lips tasted like the vanilla shake he had earlier. The only one who had chocolate was-!'

Ruby opened her eyes and screamed in her mouth at the sight. Nora was making out with her, right in front of Jaune! The traitor was off to their side, smiling at his handiwork. Nora opened her eyes and stopped for a moment. When she noticed Ruby was the one being tongue slapped by her, she looked to her side and saw Jaune, she just smiled and pushed again.

Ruby was pinned as Nora continued. Ruby tried to push her off, but soon grew weaker as she felt her strength fade from Nora's kiss. She felt as if she was going to melt from Nora's heat, but she wanted more. She wrapped her arms around her girlfriend as the two continued to make out.

Jaune chuckled. He thought back to his mother's words. 'Well, Mom, I guess you were right.' He watched the two finally break from their kiss, panting for air. They then looked to Jaune. Ruby reached out to him, extending and curling her finger in his direction. He stood up and walked to his girlfriends. 'But I can't remember a time you were wrong.'
